Hi there. Recently someone decided to be ever so nice and spill pop on my laptop. No smoke came out of it thatnk god but i noticed it started to run hotter on the bottom. Then i started getting the BSOD when ever i would run programs that took any real power to run. I also gte CRC errors when ever i try and extract any files or install any programs i download off the net. Im wondering if my ram is to blame for it? Ive already formated the hard drive, deleted the old partition and made a new one and re-installed XP.

I ran memtest86 over night and it came up with many many MANY errors (Im talking over a million) so i know my ram is hooped, but my main question is can my ram cause CRC error or is other hardware broken in the computer to. Its still covered under warrenty (and since it was a laptop i bought an extended warrenty just incase) so i want to know if i should warn the company about other hardware problems to look out for besides the ram.

P.S. sorry for the long post but i like to give little details usless or not lol

1) The PC board(s) inside need to be washed to get rid of the dried-up soda (a "diet" version would have been less likely to cause problems, since they don't have 14 pounds of sugar per can). A notebook repair shop may be able to do this successfully.
2) Unless your warranty covers spilling soda on the notebook, the repair won't be covered under warranty.

I already cleaned the laptop and HP already contacted me saying that the replacment parts are on the way so im not being charged a thing :D im good at bullcraping companies (i managed to get apple to replace my ipod for complaetly free after I steped on it while it was in my coat and bent it into a V). I just wanted to know if faulty ram can cause CRC errors or if they should be warned to check for other things as well

It could be just about anything, not just RAM; unless you washed all the insides of the notebook with water, it'll be pretty obvious to anyone who opens up the notebook what really happened.

ya whatever, you have no idea how to just answer a question or read obviously. all i wanted to know was if my ram could cause it or not and you barley answered that with your second post. For a guy with over 2000 posts you sure are pretty useless. I managed to find the answer by searchin the web harder so. Next time just answer a question dont try and lecture someone.

Oh and you can respond how ever you want to this im not comming back to this forum again since its members seem pretty useless.
Now begin your good dont come back replies. goodbye
