Im in the market for a new monitor, my old one is a basic samsung 24' 1080p 60hz display. I decided its time for a change but i cannot decide what to go with. Buying from amazon isnt an option for me and i found the 2 best VA displays(1080p 144hz 1ms and 1440p 144hz 4ms) in my country, but i cannot decide whether or not i should upgrade to 1440p.
I typically play pubg, dota 2, and any cool/pretty AAA game i can get my hands on( witcher, metro, plague tale, prey, far cry and so on)
I would obviously rather go for the 1440p monitor but i do not want to buy a monitor i cant really fully utilize and i know i wont get 1440p high/ultra 100/144fps in all games but is 1440p still worth over 1080p? All i do on my pc is game/watch movies. I do plan on upgrading from my 1070 to an 1080ti in a month or 2 but would that make a big enough difference and should i wait for the next gpus to be released until buying a new one?

Probably but you might not get 60 FPS with a 1070 you probably could if you upgraded your GPU to like a Navi GPU or a RTX card but if you don't care for FPS yes you should be able to handle it.
