is my rig good for 4-5 years?

i'm planning to build my own rig, since i have my own gpu a msi gtx 960 here are the specs i am willing to build around on it

i7 4790
asus z97-a
gskill ripjaws x 16gb
corsair 750w psu
regarding my gpu i'll soon upgrade it to a asus gtx 980

Sure, with a 980 your graphics quality is secured for years. The 4790 is extremely powerful and may very well prove useful for many years too come. My i7-950 is over six years old and it is still a beast on my secondary rig.

Perhaps the only thing I'd change would be the PSU. The 750 is from the CX series, I actually own one myself, but from what I've heard on this forum, and indeed elsewhere, that PSU is of inferior quality to that of almost all other Corsair series.

I'd recommend an EVGA G2 750.

If you are on a budget, I'd buy the 4690k instead of the 4790. It is cheaper and indeed perfect for gaming. However, if you are not on a budget, per se, then the 4790 is an excellent choice.

Video cards don't usually last 4-5 years no matter how awesome they are. As in, they won't be relevant that long.

That psu is certainly not a 4-5year unit.

Any current i5 or i7 will easily last well over 5 years.

The RAM will probably be fine.
