Question Is My Ryzen 7 1700 @ 3.8GHz bottlenecking my GPU?

Hi! I was wondering, is my Ryzen 1700 throttling my RTX2070?
I know this is true in CS:GO (avg. 130fps at 1080p low) but how about other games?
RTX 2070 tests in 27th percentile, slightly odd, but certain games don't run like they are supposed to.
So I'm wondering, is it time to upgrade? If so, 2700x or Threadripper Gen2?
Only looking to spend 800 max if I do go for a TR.

Maybe. Wait for Ryzen 3000. Should be out this summer.

Don't go TR if you are just a gamer. For $800 you could get an i9-9900K + Z390. TR requires a new X399 mobo too.

Totally not worthwhile to do 2700X over the 1700.
I get better frames than that with my 1080. Even Wildlands breaks 100 frames in "ultra" settings on my 1700.

Chances are there's something else at play. Can you list what games you're getting low performance? If it's just a synthetic benchmark, those don't always represent real world game performance.

When I ran my 1700 @ 3.9 ghz with my 1070Ti, I was able to push games at 2K with an ultrawide at 100hz with most games on high or better settings. Are your drivers up to date? Are you running full screen, or windowed?
