I am putting together a 90 min documentary. I have over 4 hours of clips.
My new PC is :
Mobo: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus
Proc: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Processor
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 2666 MHz C16 XMP 2.0
Graphics: Sapphire Technology PULSE RADEON RX 5500 XT 8G.
Local drive: Corsair MP600 Force Series, 1 TB High-speed Gen 4 PCIe x4, NVMe M.2 SSD

It is struggling with editing just a 2 minute video using Davinci Resolve 17.
The playback is jittery. Is the PC too weak?
How am I going to edit my film?
Do I have to do it in small chunks?
Any suggestions are very welcome.

Is the documentary in an 8k resolution? What are your config settings, are they set to process using your GPU or CPU? Davinci can be heavily dependent on the GPU, but he 5500XT should be enough for 4K on H.264/265. Where are the raw video files for the documentary stored? If it's on the 1TB gen 4 NVMe then that should not be causing playback issues.

Your system seems good enough for me to run Davinci Resolve 17 and edit the videos. If the videos you are currently working on are too big in size, you should cut these videos in half and then try to edit them. Hopefully this will make your system run Davinci Resolve 17 and edit the videos faster.
