Hey folks! Long time no see. The last time I posted was over 6 years ago.
My current situation is: I have a mostly 5 year old desktop (with one key exception) with the following specs:
CPU: Intel Haswell i5-4590
GPU: Sapphire RX 480 (8GB)
Motherboard: Gigabyte H97M-D3H
Memory: Two sticks of 4GB RAM DDR3 (Ripjaws)
Monitor: A 1080P LG IPS (Forgot the model)
Storage: 3TB Seagate HDD
8 year old Hard disk of around 200 GB (this is where my OS is installed. Yes, I know it is bad but I bought the PC in increments and just never bothered to change the setup. My mistake).
PSU: Forgot the model, but it's a Seasonic Modular of around 600 Wat
My current predicament: Is there any sense in upgrading this setup or would I be better off starting from scratch? My short term solution is to buy x2 8GB RAM Sticks to handle the newer games out there. However, I've been experiencing significant bottlenecks elsewhere. I also live in a particularly dusty area so it's been getting more annoying to clean the insides of the current case I own (which isn't very well designed).
Follow-up question: I've been looking at laptops recently as they occupy less space and have the ability to be transported. I'm looking at getting a Predator Helios (or equivalent) laptop with a i5-9300H, RTX2060 and 8GB of RAM (Which I will upgrade definitely). It costs roughly 1350 USD where I live (third world country with high import taxes. Sad) - would that laptop be a substantial upgrade to my current setup? Thanks!
