Is my temperatures normal for my i5-4670k?

Hi all, so i just build my new comp couple weeks ago. I've build one before but it was not biggie cause i did not do any overclocking (and it was like 6 years ago). By the way my build can be seen here ( http://pcpartpicker.com/b/PYb ). Anyways, so i have everything set up and i started Prime 95 and my temps are pretty high on stock. I even have my fans on full speed (corsair sp 120). My idle temperatures are around 30,31,32, 30 with fans at full speed. But when i put on load with prime 95, (blend, and large ft) temps reach 71-75 sometimes even 81 for my max. Here is an example photo. Could anyone please help me frown.gif? is my chip defected? or is this normal?

My guess is your cpu uses way more voltage than it needs when avx instructions are required. You should try to set a fixed voltage for the cpu in bios (i think for stock 1.1 should suffice for now) and then try to run prime95 again.

I think I'd suggest reseating your CPU waterblock and reapplying thermal compound - your temps (although not terrible) are higher than my 4770k with hyper-threading enabled.
Also, you might try making the pump a little more aggressive through it's PWM settings

Hmm i will try setting voltage lower in bios. But how do you reset the water block? i dont think ive ever done that before.

If it would be a seating problem i think his idle temps would be higher also. I still think it's the avx drawing more voltage than needed and it overheats.

Reseating means to take off the cooler and cpu, clean them, then reapply paste and reassemble them on the motherboard.

okay so as far as avx drawing more voltage how could i decrease that? i have asus maximus hero mobo and ive tried everything. prime 95 giving me like 76 max temps in like 30 seconds on prime 95

Try and get an older version of prime 95, one which doesn't use avx. Try this one http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=205 . And run test with this version, see what temps you get. If you get lower temps by a good margin, then it's the avx kicking in, if not, then it may be a seating issue.
