Hi folks!

Jus built my first waterloop. After 30 min of Cinnebench R23 + Furmark (in parallel) cpu temps are near 100.
It was not instant - it took I think about 15-20 minutes to hit 100 on one core (temps were rising from 77 without spikes). Overall 2 cores hit 100, 3 more hit 99 , others are from 94 to 97.
Max TDB was somewhere near 230WT.
Fans configuration:
  • Radiator fans - 50% - 1100 RPM
  • Case fanns - 45% - 852 RPM
  • Pump - 100% - 4700 RPM
CPU freq was stable 5300 for somewhere near 26-27 minutes and started dropping to 5100-5200 for last couple of minutes. Unnfortunately I dont have water temp monitor, so I have no idea about coolant temps.

Whould I be worried? This might be nothing - I know that furmark + cinbench in parallel is rougth but I thought that my setup can handle this 🙁

Parts:
  • Case - thermaltake level 20 ht
  • CPU - Intel Core I7 13700kf
  • GPU - Gigabyte RTX 3080TI
  • MB - asus rog maximus z690 formula
  • Pump - EK-Quantum Kinetic TBE 300 D5 PWM D-RGB - Plexi
  • WB CPU - ekwb quantum velocity 2 (full nickel)
  • WB GPU - alphacool eisblock aurora acryl gpx-n (with active backplate)
  • Radiator - 2x alphacool nexxxos ut60 full copper 360
  • Radiator fan - 12x Cooler Master MF120 Prismatic (6 per rad - push/pull)
  • Case fan - 4x Thermaltake TOUGHFAN 14 Series Radiator Fan (all out)

57 deg C on GPU duringn cinbench + furmark. All fans push/pull.
  • Radiator fans - 50% - 1100 RPM
  • Case fanns - 45% - 852 RPM
  • Pump - 100% - 4700 RPM
Temp on GPU was also growing slowly, from 28 to 57
CPU Idle 27-30.

Started only cinbench (without furmark) for 30 mins one more time. CPU temp started from 72-75 C.
After 10 minutes - temps are from 79-87. After 20 minutes - temps are from 79 to 89 After 30 minutes max core temps were from 82-90

All temps above are max captured temps. Avg are somewhere near 82-83 (visually) with spikes to 86-87.
Dropped hwinfo stats just before cinbench launch - avg cores temps are from 73-81(telemetry)

Before running ciebench gpu temp (idle) was 27, after 30 minutes idle temp is 33.

PS: Room with computes is the hottest one in my apartment and it dont have good ventilation, so PC might slightly fried itself 🙁

With single cinbench run CPU temps are +- 78

Plus one of my rads (back one) dont have nnormal airflow (poor case design 🙁 ) I will (drill) some holes to make it better. Later will try without one glass door openned (to make better airflow in the back)

Launched cinebench + furmark one more time with one side opened - GPU 49 C (-8 C, was stable for +- 10 minnutes), CPU two cores hit 95|96 (max) others 87-92, avg on all cores 89 or less. Seems like my 5ths core is preffered and take more load.

Left furmark working after cinbennch finished - GPU temps began to drop bit by bit. Seems like temp (even with "hot water") stabilized around 44.7 on gpu core and 52 on vram.

Seems like I slightly missed with rads 🙁 Totally I have 590-600 WT (240 CPU + 350 GPU), I can increase fan speed but they will become noizy. Checked some tests of my rads annd with 1100 rpm fan each rad can remove +- 290-320 WT of heat. So I basically hit limit. But this PC is for gaming and I dont remember such huge loads in any game. Checked in last spider man - 44-50 C with spike to 65-70 during initial game load.

Plus seems like modo keep cpu freq at 5300 till ~98 C and drop it a little afterwards (to 5100-5200). Looks like this "cool" AI stuff from ASUS with try thisout it someday. If I remember right my friend have 12700k in his PC and cpu freq drop starts somewhere at 75 C (from 5100-5200 to 4800-4900). So this adds additional heat to equasion.

I will be glad if somebody can confirm my thoughts!

Hi
I would definitely add a water temp senor into the mix.
I have the alphacool water temp / flow sensor after my gpu about mid way through my loop. It's not the best but for about $40 bucks w/shipping it works.

Have you tried turning the pump down some? ( to give the water a little bit more time in the rads)

I have the same pump and in the 3700 to 4000 rpm range I'm pushing 1 gpm through the loop. ( by the flow rpm=Lph table converted to gph then per min )

Alphacool Flow rpm rate table= Lph÷3.76 approx to Gph ÷60min for gpm.

Cpu 5900x Corsair Xc7 Pro Wb / Gpu Evga ftw3 2080 ti Ek Quantum Vector Nickle Plexi Wb/ Alphacool rads 360 x30 hpe, 420x45 and a 280 Ut 60, running Noctua IPPC's.
The end of next month while on Vacation I will change out the Xc7 for a Optimus Foundation wb.

Those fans seem to be spec'd low on static preasure for radiator fans from Cooler Master's website.
I know you probably don't want to hear that, but they wouldn't have made my consideration list of candidates.

Your Ambient temp sounds like it's not helping either.
And definitely know there's only soo much you can about that, I live in an apt myself.
The main A/c doesn't even begin to help the 2 bdrm, so I have portable A/c units in the bdrms.

Good Luck
Please Keep us in the Loop!!!!!!!!!

Crosslhs82x2, yeah looks like its fans + poor air flow. Tested with 100% rpm on all fans ad ciebennch + furmark gave cpu temp avg 76-83. Looks like I eed nnew fans and "holes" onn one side of case for additioal airflow to rad on backside. I thought that this fanns in push/pull cann handle my rads 🙁

Is there any way to lift or remove the top glass and test before you modify the case ?

Arctic has the P12 Max 120's out now but No rgb But their price make them Way cheaper to go to, seeing how you have 12x 120's.

I almost bought the Level 20 Xt when I went full custom loop.
45lbs empty weight !!!!! And the glass top /front made me reconsider.

I went with the Tt Core X71

Crosslhs82x2, no I havent checked temps without top glass. I will need to drill holes in right one anyway - there is no direct airflow to back rad and I place it near the socket so it also add its 5 cents to temps. Will check tomorrow. I was not able to find arctic fans anywhere and amazon not delivering to my country. Cougar MHP120 seems like pretty close. Am I right (and louder 🙁 )? This is the best that I could find.

Hi
Well on paper those look to be pretty good specs.
Nothing making you run them at 2000 rpm but the static pressure and the cfm being rated higher should move more air through your rads then what you have now.

Any way to return / repurpose / sell those other to help with the cost of the new fans?

Tested with removed top glass - 88-93 C max on cores (except 4 and 6 they hit 96 but avg is 92-94) after 30 minutes of cinebench + furmark, but CPU is slightly undervolted now (also want to undervolt GPU). Put my hand on ot of top output fans and air from the back is much much hotter than from front. Backside dont have any intake fans and relies only on static pressure, think holes in right glass panel will help a bit.

Well I can repurpose at least some of this fans, if I will change them.

I will try one more test at the evening (room temp will be lower)
