I fancied a bit of CS action before I upgrade my PC to Run HL2, CS Source,
etc..

I downloaded steam and CS (old version) and found only one server on the
servers list (all filters off)!!!!

Jesus! has everyone abandoned the old version? If I want to play CS now will
I have to pay for CS Source?

Paul

You are doing something very screwy, there are currently 40,000
servers:

I find loads of 1.6 servers with loads of players. Although I play
source I still play 1.6 because of the current lack of variety in maps
that source has, but once assault and a few other old maps are done
for source it's bye bye 1.6 for me

Well, the only difference from the last time I ran CS is I did not install
half life from CD this time, because I was never prompted for it.

It can't be that though could it? Surely I would get a warning message
saying install HL or something.

Anyway, Steam runs fine, I can do a refresh and "one" server will appear and
I can play CS on that server. Occasionally a different server appears and I
can play on that too. But only "one" server ever appears, I have hit
"Refresh all" and left if for two hours, I then hit "stop refresh" and once
again only "one" server is listed.

WTF is going on?

Paul

Are you sure you are not filtering something?

Certain, I have tried it with each filter on and then off again, multiple
combinations etc... At the moment I have "Is not password protected" ticked,
that's all!

Win XP Firewall disabled, the following ports forwarded on my Hardware
firewall:
UDP 1200
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27015 to 27039 inclusive

I MUST be missing something, but what?

This really is nuts!
