Is now a good time to buy a gaming laptop?

I need to pick up a laptop sometime this year, I'm planning to do some high/mid end gaming, school work and music development on it, it's not a massive priority but it would be convenient to get one sometime soon.

My question is: would it be best to wait till ryzen for laptops hit the market and until AMD and Nvidia sort out their brutal battle with their new GPU architecture or does it not really affect the value/depreciation of the laptop within this period?

the mobile rx500 series will be out before this year end. could be worth the wait...

If you wanted a Kaby Lake processor and Pascal GPU, now would be a great time to buy. Both have been on the market for a good amount of time, and I believe Nvidia will be releasing their next gen soon... might be good to wait for that if you wanted. Other than that, I don't think the laptop will depreciate due to ryzen's release.
