Is now a good time to purchase a new monitor

Hey everyone,

I am looking to purchase a new 120hz monitor for gaming, not for 3d. Are there any monitors currently in the making or near release that I should know about before making my decision to purchase one?

I was looking at purchasing the Alienware AW2310 primarily because of the low input lag, response time and good colours and ghosting results. As this screen was released early last year, would I be better off waiting for new monitors to come as I do not know what sort of cycle manufacturers release new models.

Why should you buy a 120Hz monitor if you won't use 3d? You can find cheaper deals and still not lose performance.
