Is nvdia gt 240 best for gta 4

What is a "core 3"? Not something I've ever heard of.

Would be great to know what your actual system specifications are.

But anyway a GT 240 is a very low end card, and GTA 4 is a poorly ported game that uses a ton of CPU power as well as GPU.

Did you try turning the settings down?

GTA iv is one if not the most memory intensive game currently on the market is one of the few out there that use more than 1gb of vram very easily. In fact it actually takes 2gb just to max out the settings and still be bale to play at 1920x1080 at 60hz or better. Also it is extremely cpu intensive but does not use more than 4 cores or threads. A GT240 and a Corei3 will only be able to manage at lower resolutions than what is normally played at with barely acceptable frame rates. A gtx 460 can be maxed out in this game around 1280x1024 up through 1600x900~

I own GTA 4 and have played it several times and based on my experience these are the REAL requirements which GTA 4 needs
Processor:Intel core i7 and higher
RAM:8GB.The game easily hogs 3GB after 3 hours
Video card:GTX 260 and higher in 200 series,GTS 450 and higher in 400 series and GTA 550 ti and higher in 500 series
With a GTX 275 and i7 870 I barely maxed out the game settings but still had to turn off night shadows and lower shadow detail from very high to high.I maxed the rest even draw difference at 100.
A GT 240 and an i3 will only play the game at 1280X720 resolution or lower and even then you may have to turn everything down to low.The GT 240 is not geared for playing latest games.Its a low end card

Geforce GT 240 ddr5 is not a low end card, is a good value card, which will let you play most of games in medium-high at low resolutions.
The problem is GTA IV is badly optimised for PC, so you would need a really good CPU and a high end GPU.

What? Just because it supports a feature doesn't mean it's good. It's a low end 200 series card, only 2 cards are worse in the 200 series - the 210 and 220.

Now I'm not saying it's a BAD card, but it's meant for low resolution gaming, and even then not at high settings.

GTA 4 is a very demanding game, because it was built for consoles and was poorly optimized for PC.

It may be me but I actually found 30 fps in the game to be extremely smooth.In fact on my pc gta 4 at 30 fps runs waaay smoother then other games at 30 fps.Good thing that even if its badly optimised it feels smooth

but all othegher reqirmrnts game are working well and i bought this gt 240 from direct nvdia not from xfx or sparkle or asus and they told its good card and can manage all games till 2015 and it can give resolution to a 3d led tv of maximum size with all games now tell

Its called marketing tactics.NVIDIA loves to hype its low end products.Their latest GT 430 released was actually waay weaker than the gt 240 but with the amount of hype its getting people think its an awesome card.The GT 240 CAN play all games out there but only at minimum settings and that at a resolution of 1280X1024.Now GTA 4 is an exception.My previous PC was a intel core 2 quad with an 8800 GTX.When GTA 4 was released it was so badly optmised that I got 19 fps when standing on a street with HORRENDOUS AMOUNT of jagged edges everywhere and that at a rez of 1024X768.Then after the 7 patches which were released by rockstar and the release of intel's i7 series I could finally play the game at near max with my intel core i7 870 and a gtx 275.
I think you have not downloaded the latest patches.You must have installed the game and started playing.Go and download all 7 patches and then report back.GTA 4 is VERY VERY BADLY CODED and I recommend you play just cause 2 which is 10 times bigger than GTA 4 and even looks better and runs better

only gpus that will max gta 4 is gtx 480 -580 or 6970-6950
and a decent quadcore with 4gb ram

even they can't max it out at a resolution of 2560X1440 for which the gpus are intended.They will probably max it out at 1080p but who will buy those card for that resolution and for just 1 game?
