Is nvidia phys x worth to have

I currently have a radeon HD 6850x2 in CFX and my cards are OC maybe close to a 6870, if i have a good OC, but i think my cards are starting to give out, i was playing Crysis 3 MP beta and i can only play on medium settings with 2x Multi sample rate any higher and ill be on 5 FPS, im currently only getting like around 30FPS, So i was thinking if i get a 7850 or should i go with a Nvidia card like along the lines of a GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Im on a budget of around $200) But the actual question is will Phyx really help me out on games or should i just stick with AMD and get the 7850, And if it matters my current CPU is an AMD FX-6300.

I wouldn't get a card to gain physX, but if you play games with GPU accelerated PhysX, and you are already purchasing a new card, you might as well get one that can do PhysX.

Do you play any games with GPU accelerated PhysX options? If not, then it doesn't matter.

That depends on the game. Some are way to stressful to even attempt on the CPU, while others are not much different. Some give you advanced option without a PhysX card, some do not.

ageia is proprietary to nvidia and is not rendered by the cpu when AMD cards are used.

don't buy a 560. total junk. buy a gtx660 if you can find one for your budget.

yes, physx IS worth it. look on line at the "dual" videos that show side by side comparison.

can't understand why people hate and give down trodden opinions.

Did you mean, it IS rendered on the CPU when AMD cards are used? That is the case in most games that have PhysX. Only a few don't give you an option to run on the CPU, usually because it is too demanding. Most PhysX games don't give you the option to run on the GPU, even when you have an Nvidia card.

in addition, I'm running ati 5870 with i7-920 and I played many games with physx set medium including mafia II,batman arkham city,metro 2033,these games weren't playable at stock CPU speed (2.66GHz) so I had to overclock it to 3.33GHz to get 35 FPS, I agree that these games are three times faster on high-end nvidia graphics cards like 680/670 but you can get playable frame rates when you set physx to medium if you have fast processor.

and about the physx option ,I read in article that some people needed a tweak to force the game to enable physx with AMD graphics card in arkham city and border land 2.

(P.S. if PhysX option is grayed out on your system, you still can change the settings using "PhysXLevel" parameter in "WillowEngine.ini" file:
(\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\Config)

PhysXLevel=1 - PhysX Medium
PhysXLevel=2 - PhysX High )
but I didn't need a tweak when I enabled it in any of the games I played.

So some games will use it and sone wont, i thought Phyx was used in all game like particle debris or explosions, i play COD, GTA4, LOL, and SC2 planetside 2 and others, so none of these will use phyx, so does AMD have there own phyx, like the other day i got new drivers, I think it was 12.6 and it said something like AMD fuel, is this Phyx!!!!

Amd partnered with Havok to rival Nvidia in the physics department. Little Big Planet is only game i have played so far using this engine and i was quite impressed with how anti linear it was (physx would be the same), there would be plenty more surely.

Having physics in a compatible game would add to the list of immersions you would experience with things like multiple or big screens, wireless keyboards/mouse to sit back with coupled with full surround sound, eventually leading to a desire to have.

If there's a way to have a game cooperate both parties evenly then good, but for Gpu physics in general (i hope) becomes more universal, it will be the icing on the cake with most, if not all future AAA titles.

Yeah, it's not a deal-breaker, more like icing. As far as incidental perks go, I'd take AMD's current advantage with respect to compute accuracy over nVidia's PhysX -- but I wouldn't base my decision on which to buy for a gaming rig on either of those perks.

I've recently played Arkham City on an AMD card (and without enabling brute-force CPU PhysX). The game is bleeping beautiful regardless. Buy what's best, in terms of general performance, at the price point you've chosen. Everything else is just noise.

Very few games use GPU accelerated PhysX, a ton of games use PhysX on the CPU.

Havoc physx works on nvidia cards also. it's not proprietary as is ageia physx.
