Hello I'm currenly looking into a mother boards for an i7 7700k learning that z270 boards are overclockable I had been looking into other features that could be use full and was wonder if on board Ethernet is any good for example on the "ASRock - Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard"

Solution
ALL motherboards have onboard ethernet ports. Wired networking will ALWAYS be better than WIFI for gaming. Some motherboards have ethernet controllers that are supposed to be optimized for gaming, like the "killer" network controllers.

On board Ethernet is perfectly fine, unless you get a board with the Killer Networks Ethernet chip. I personally find the software support for that chipset to be garbage, and ultimately, because the software can only control what happens on the local PC, there are no benefits to speak of in overall performance of the networking for that particular Ethernet chipset. Just my opinion about Killer Networks product however.

The only actual case I have seen where the on board Ethernet was not fine, was not in gaming. It interfered with the functioning of an OTA TV tuner during periods of heavy traffic. Installing a low cost Intel Ethernet add-in board sorted out the problem.
