the question is
how much of an actual FPS increase does an overclocked CPU give?
your warranty is at stake and also the longevity of your CPU

so how much FPS increase will i get with my i5 4690K

Solution
It depends entirely on the game and on your graphics card. If the graphics card is the limiting factor, running your CPU faster won't make a difference.

Now you've gotten opinions from no to it depends to yes; take that as you will. If you name specific games and can monitor CPU and GPU usage percentage, plus frame rates, while the games run we can make specific recommendations.

In theory, if during a game you see 100% usage on two CPUs and 12% usage on the GPU, increase your CPU speed. If you see 12% usage on the CPU and 98% usage on the GPU, CPU speed will make no difference.
I have this processor running a 780. I have OC'd my 780 but not my CPU. All games I have tried I am running v-sync and this setup never goes below 60fps at max settings and yet the processor never seems to go over 70% usage. I see zero point in overclocking until games start pushing my usage into the 90% usage at least.

Solution
The only way you are going to see any significant increase in FPS when overclocking is if the CPU is limiting your GPU... You may see a frame or two if your hardware is already optimized

Please don't listen to replies like this.... I cannot envisage this happening even if he was using a low end CPU and high end GPU and overclocked the CPU to help with the bottleneck.
