Is papa GTX 770 dying?

A few days ago while I was playing a relatively old and non-gpu taxing game my screen briefly (like less than half a second) went into a wild blur of vertical line chaos, then everything was normal. Didn't happen again, even when I was playing much more gpu heavy games. Today after I booted up the PC and started browsing the desktop it did the same thing. No freeze, no restart, everything normal afterwards.

To be fair, I'm using a pretty old 75 Hz LCD monitor and the cable connecting it is a bit busted, have to adjust it at times or it makes the screen turn purple. The GTX 770 2 gb runs below 60 degrees when gaming and at 38 when idle, though it might need a little dusting inside.

Could it be the cables/monitor/dust or is old papa 770 starting to fault?
