Is pcpartpicker's "compatability" checking accurate?

because when I try to replicate my rig on the site and try to look at CPU coolers it says the cooler I am eying (its a Phantek TC14PE) is "compatible" with my rig when my ram sticks are corsair vengeance ones (2x8) in a MSI MPOWER MAX

I'm assuming by "compatible" it also already checked height clearance and not just socket wise? because if so I'm buying one right away 😉

i dont think it goes that far, check the specs yourself to be sure. or set it on a ridiculously small board see if it complains.

I don't think they do that. Get the low-profile Corsair Vengeance LP RAM. They are the ones without the tall heat spreaders.

The compatible list doesn't check dimensions of things as far as I am aware... it's more to stop you doing things like picking an intel motherboard with an AMD processor and things along that line. I'm pretty sure with coolers it would just check the socket type of your chosen CPU and see if that socket is listed as compatible with the cooler spec sheet.

even with good specs i still like to measure the clearings with a tape measure to be sure most of the time.

Im fairly certain PCpartpicker does not check memory clearances for CPU heatsinks.

As far as I know all PCpartpicker checks is motherboard socket/cpu socket.

It also checks front USB 3.0 ports between motherboard and case.
