Question Is Q67 and Q77 compatible?

I have two PC, HP 8200 Elite with Q67 chipset (i5-2nd gen)and Dell 9010 with Q77 Chipset( Has I5-3rd gen). Got problem with Q67 no post. I tested the ram all OK. I want to test the cpu by puting it on Q77 they have the same socket (1155). IS it ok?

Yes the Q77 supports the i5 2nd and 3rd gen.
But it may vary due the bios support.

If it fits the socket, just put it in and try it ---- won't do any harm. If not compatible the PC won't POST.

Or it's a faulty CPU from the one that isn't working.
But a swap between both should determine if it's mobo or cpu (less likely to be cpu)
