Is R9 290x still good?

I was actually looking at other cards, 1080,1070, and all, and i saw r9 fury at 23k, in amazon.com, which got me thinkin, i own r9 290x trix oc from sapphire, the card is good, great actually, but i dont know whether it will be good for the long run, or should i sell this and get that r9 fury. I need to how how good is r9 290x. Thanks

The GTX 1060 is on par with the R9 290X, but the 1060 has the advantages of:

1. less power draw
2. better driver updates
3. newer support and returns
4. better DX12 and newer technologies support

.. plus it will come to india, and even then my budget will be 23-24k .. Your suggestions are good, but r9 290x can run any games in the future right? not asking about 4k gaming or other high end stuff, just smooth gaming

The R9 290X is pretty good for 1080p future-proofing, so if you don't need to upgrade, don't.

Probably save for the next generation of Nvidia cards (Volta).

yeah the 290x is still capable of gaming as long as your at 1080p @ 60hz its still plenty for most games, worst case youhave to turn the graphics down a bit
