Hi all,

I’ve recently purchased Sabertooth x58 MB with 2 x 4 GB 1600MHz RAM sticks [CORSAIR Vengeance (CML8GX3M2A1600C9B)].
The board shows total 8 GB RAM only when I insert RAM sticks in B1 and C1.

The problem is when I install RAM in -

Slots RAM shown
A1 + B1 = 4 GB only. …. CPU-Z shows information of both RAM slots (A1 and B1)
A1 + C1 = 4 GB only. …. CPU-Z shows information of both RAM slots (A1 and C1)
B1 + C1 = 8 GB (Total RAM shown)

Also I tried using single RAM stick in –

Slot RAM shown
A1 – Does not boot
B1 – boot successfully
C1 – boot successfully

Does this mean A1 slot is dead.
Can anyone pl suggest.

Thanx in advance.

Check the manual for possible ram configurations in various slots. x58 boards are designed for ram in threes, though some work ok with matched pairs. There may also be a bios setting you need to change. But you may be correct about slot a1. You may also request tech support from asus. I would post this link to the request form. It can take up to two days to respond. If you send the board to asus, be carefull handling it and pack it well. They are picky about inspecting the board for physical damage and will deny an rma if they find any.

Thanx for quick reply. The manual says to insert sticks in slot A1 then B1 then C1 and then after A2 > B2 > C2. Also If Slot A1 is dead i suspect the CPU-Z should not read the RAM stick inserted. But it does display all information regarding RAM stick inserted.
