Is running in SLI generates less noise ?

Hi everyone !

I was wondering if running in SLI will be actually quieter than a single card ?
The reason I assumed that is because I thought that the load will be split between two cards.

Or the second card will only be used when first one is at max load ?
Which means that there will be more noise.

I hope someone who was running single card and then went SLI could tell me which statements is right.

it depends is the answer. if you're running a 680 or something at 1080p 60fps with vsync on... and the card is running at 100% to hold that 60fps.... if you add a second, they'd run at each about 50% to hold that 60fps. so less noise, and less heat.

but it depends how you're setup! any situation other than using vsync at an achievable resolution... then they will both be running at full load, which means more heat in the case, and more noise b/c the fans need to ramp up higher.

typically SLI = more noise, more heat
