will the ryzen 5 2600 be a bottleneck? if so should i buy the ryzen 5 3600 instead?

( want to play 1080p 144 hz consistent )

With a bit of an over clock yes! It would be fine. Not really what you call a bottleneck per se. Whether you hit 144hz consistently is another question altogether.

It's game dependent, game settings dependant, ram dependent (you should have 2 x 8gb 3000mhz+ ram to push the best out of Ryzen.

List the rest of your PC specs, so we can make a more accurate reply.

There are a lot of demanding games and poorly optimized games that any CPU on the market today wont consistently hit 144hz.

My apologies, feelinfroggy777, i misread your post. I though it started with 'No, CPU will hit 144hz constantly' - as in, the CPU will defo hit 144hz :tearsofjoy:;) I should have put my glasses on!!!

Having re-read your post, yes, I agree, too many variables for accurate answer. Including all those things I mentioned. So I completely agree, and will learn to get my old man glasses on before posting! ;)

The 2600 will work just fine with the 2070...the 3600 will drive the 2070 a bit harder but I doubt you'll ever notice the difference between 100 or 115 fps anywhere but a benchmark...in actual gaming the differences would be so small as to be unnoticeable, especiallly on a gsync or freesync monitor.
