I have PC here , that uses latest v4 xeon CPU
I want to experiment with overclocking a little bit

base frequency is 2.0
i want to go somewhere from 2.2-2.3ghz
I mean I wan't it to be absolutely safe for PC
I know that BCLK overclocks full system and RAM

by the way will it also force overclock m.2 nvme and sata HDDs ?

if 2.3 is high for xeon , can I at least overclock to 2.1-2.2ghz ?
what you will recommend ?

BCLK will overclock everything including the USB ports.

It has been a while, but I think read that increasing the BCLK beyond 106MHz can start causing the USB to become unresponsive. Though that can vary depending on the motherboard. Will it overclock the m.2 port and start messing with the SSD? Chances are good that can happen.

So you saying that USB is the weakest park that can suffer from BCLK Overclock

I'm talking about from 2000 to 2100mhz

regarding USB again ... I think when USB work on maximum 3.0 speed and you adding +100mgz from BCLK
it will be correct to make all USB 3.0 ports work like USB 2.0 , if there is any option to do that , just cut the 3.0 if they were 2.0 .

From what I've read (a while ago), yes the USB ports are pretty sensitive to BCLK overclock since from what I can remember, they were the first devices that started to fail. I don't know about the m.2 port, then again, I don't think motherboards with m.2 ports existed at the time when the article was written, or they were very rare.

There is no real point to overclock from 2.0GHz to 2.1GHz as the gain in performance will be minuscule.

for example Linus from LinusTechTips
overclocked 2.7 xeon by 113x
and it was stable , whn you have 50+ cores even 100mhz per core matters

by the way how that thing called that makes xeon CPU work on higher frequencies while using less cores
I remember it was list with numbers (something like frequencies vs core count)

and as I understand that correctly , xeon will never go below base frequency right ?
if base is 2.2 it will be 2.2 even if I use all cores of all CPUs avaliable ?

MERGED QUESTION
Question from peaceduke : "Anyone have experience of slight overclocking Xeon CPU ?"

I was asking almost same question yesterday , unfortunately have only 1 answer
I'm still excited about voerclocking 2.4ghz xeon to 2.5ghz

but they will fork 24/7 full load , can I harm PC with +100mhz baseclock overcloking ?
thats why I asked for your experience at first place .

you catch me !

ASUS Z10PE is my plans

what can you say about that server motherboard ?
