Is second ssd automatically in ahci?

My build was
Pny XLR8 120gb ssd
seagate 1tb HDD
and just got a 240gb amd ssd

PNY had OS and was in ahci mode

When I Installed my AMD ssd, Did i have to do anything special like ahci or is it automatic? since os drive is ahci

Depends on the settings in your BIOS (motherboard). Do not assume anything, go in your BIOS and verify that your settings are as you expect them to be.
