Is SpongeBob meant for Babies?

The best children's shows have always included enough clever things for adults to laugh at, so that parents do not go insane when watching with their children. It's intended to go right over childrens' heads.

60 year old example from Barbara Billingsley: "Ward, I think you were awfully hard on the Beaver last night."
Not following this convention is why Barney & Friends can cause uncontrollable rage from excessive exposure.

Absolutely no! I'm 20 and I still watch it with my brother, who is 27! There are very clever jokes and deep issues being touched in Spongebob that young children may not understand :)
