Is supplementary pci slot (6 pin ) needed in Gtx 1060 6gb Msi ??

I recently purchase msi 1060 6gb ,
But when i tried to install and run .
The fans are not running and graphics card is not responding.

Well , i am using i3
And 6 gb ram .
500w smps .

One thing my power supply dont have extra 6 pin pci e slot , so i just put graphics card in normal slot and try to run .


Can u tell me is that normal ?

I should buy a 4 pin to 6 pin adaptor ?

Or

My graphics card has problems ?
It can run without extra pci e power slot . ???

You need the 6 pin PCIe connection to run the card.
No you shouldnt use an adapter.
If your PSU does not have the connections its a great sign its not up to the task of running the card.

You must have the supplemental PCIe power connector connected. It is recommended to use a power supply that has the correct connectors. They do make 2x molex to 6-pin PCIe adapters that will work, but it's not exactly recommended.

Yes, 6-pin must be powered or card will not respond.

New PSU is highly recommended.
Two 4-pin molex to 6-pin if you must.
One 4-pin molex to 6-pin if you want burned connectors.
