Is the 1050 a decent budget GPU?

Hello everyone,

So basically I am looking to get a 1050 card (thew TI model) right now to compliment my 8350 cpu. This one seems to be the best for a budget price and the performance (to me) looks pretty good. The 1060 shoots up a whooping 80 euro in price for a minor improvement from what I see.

Could someone with more experience tell me if I am looking at the right card or the wrong one?

The RX 470 is definitely the better card any usually only about $20ish dollars in most stores i have seen for ~30%+ performance over the 1050 Ti. Unless there is something specific you want on the 1050 Ti like CUDA (if you do CAD and Rendering) or something else exclusive then i would strongly recommend the RX 470. Hope this helps :)

RX 470 vs GTX 1050 Ti Gaming Review > http://blog.logicalincrements.com/2017/01/rx-470-vs-gtx-1050-ti-graphics-card-better-deal/

Given in Europe that the Rx 470 4GB is about €45 more than a 1050 Ti. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB is a much better deal. While the Rx 470 4GB is certainly a much better card. The prices in the EU are too close to the Rx 480 4GB. Making your choice between the 1050 Ti and the Rx 480 4GB/GTX 1060 3GB.

The prices shoot up by a lot from 1050ti to 470/480/1060 in my country (about 50-60 euros) but ?I appreciate the great comments and this leaves me to ponder how to save up an extra 60 euros. Thanks guys!

If what VeloctiyG4 says is true, then an RX 480 4GB would be an excellent card if the price is that close. A GTX 1060 6GB is also a good card if it's not out of the price range, i wouldn't get a 3GB variant since i play 1080p Ultra settings in my games and plenty go above 3GB VRAM usage constantly some even pushing 4GB occasionally. Better to have the headroom since it's only going to get higher not lower. To give example Witcher 3 (~3.5GB usage), Star Citizen (~4.1GB usage), Total War Warhammer (~3.2GB usage) and GTA V (~4.0GB usage) and the list could easily be longer with modern AAA games. Either way just go for what your budget can withhold which for me would be RX 480 4GB or a GTX 1050 Ti if the 480 costs too much. In my opinion getting a RX 480 would be well worth the extra money if you want to run High/Ultra at 1080p instead of Mediumish on the 1050 Ti.

Take a look at this review. The 1050 Ti is a decent budget GPU and it has very low power requirements. If you care about gaming at 60 FPS you are going to have to turn down the settings in most modern AAA games at 1080p though. If you don't care about 60 FPS or don't mind tweaking the settings to get a good mix of quality visuals and performance the 1050 Ti is fine.

The 4GB RX 480 or the 3GB GTX 1060 are both pretty significant improvements over the 1050 Ti though.
