Question Is the 3070 and 9600k enough for 3440x1440 ultra wide?

I just got the evga ftw3 3070 and I'm waiting for it to come in, but I was wondering if my current setup with my 9600k will pair nicely with it to run my LG 3440x1440 144hz 34" ultrawide display. I want to play new triple A games that come out at that resolution at atleast 60fps without any unstability/drops. Will these two components fair well for this task until the future comes when I wish to upgrade my entire setup?

I run 3440 x 1440. They only thing i would say is this certain games are going to require more then 8 gbs of vram if you want to max the game out. My 2080ti maxes all games out easy on 3440 1440 but fallout 76 Call of duty cold war and DOOM eternal will use more then 8gbvram. 8gbs Vram isnt for high end systems in my open which is what your are looking for. Maybe try 1080p ultra wide

"I just got...."

So try it when you get the parts.

Except when a game wants more core/threads than a 9600k can provide.
This is probably the highlight of the thread.

@must878
We don't know what kind of games you play, or what you will play going forward, but we do know there are titles out there currently that can use more threads than the 9600K can provide. That number can only go up.
3070's 8GB Vram? Not a big deal, turning some settings down is a workaround for smoother performance. Everyone has to deal with it at some point, even when using halo products.
9600K's 6 threads? Ehh, there isn't a workaround for that one other than a cpu upgrade. If a title can use more than 6, you're stuck.

Genres more likely - there will be exceptions - to use more than 6 threads consist of:
-RTS(Real Time Strategy)
-MMOs
-Sandbox simulators

One that sticks out in my mind, was Shadow of the Tomb raider. I saw a CPU review where it was making use of 75% of an R5 3600's 6c/12t, so it was already deep into SMT's resources. This is why the R5 3600 was generally recommended over a 9600k. The performance was more consistent.
