I currently play on 1080p 144Hz with my 2060 Super and R7 3700X, I like to have +70 fps on Ultra presets with the resolution upscale and the 2060S is not capable of this with the latest AAA titles, that is why I'm looking to upgrade to 3070 by the end of the month, I don't care if it is overkill for 1080p but my only concern is if it is going to be future proof with that 8GB of VRAM.

If you want to enjoy Raytracing with best settings , yes it is worth it to get RTX 3070 for 1080P.

As for the VRAM amount , for FHD 8GB is more than enough. but if you want 1440P or 4K , it is enough now but not future proof.

Wait for next year IMO , many new cards will Appear by then ... 3080 ti (20GB) and 3070 ti (16GB) are rumored .
