I am honestly most interested in the r9 380x. I want a GCN 1.2 card, but only the fury x and 380 have it. The fury x is out of my price range and the 380 is worse off then my card (280x). Is the 380 confirmed in any way? Or should I buy a gtx 970?

I would vote for the GTX 970 all the way! But, as much as I HATE to say it the new R9 390 cards are giving the GTX 970 a run for their money.

The AMD Cards run hotter, use more power, and have less updated drivers (last stable AMD driver was December 2014). Furthermore, the R9 3xx series are just re-freshed R9 2xx cards and the R9 2xx cards are re-freshed HD7xxx cards. So overall, AMD has not got much "new" to add for a while.

Also, the GTX 970's in SLI perform better than the GTX 980 Ti or AMD Fury X Cards. Get a single GTX 970 now and go GTX 970 SLI later when the price drops and you need more power.

That's why I'm asking about the 380x. It should be a fully unlocked tonga card, which is a newer card. Not as new as Fiji but still not a re-brand from the 7xxx series. Also I really don't want to crossfire/SLI cause I like to play really old games just as much as I do new game, from what I have read online Crossfire/SLI are terrible for playing old games on. So I try to stick with a single car. I do like the GTX 970 but I think a fully unlocked Tonga XT chip would be a hella good card. I just want to know if its even gonna come out
