Is the 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-4570 processor good for video editing?

I'm just after a laptop that will allow me to some basic video editing with no fuss. I'll be using footage from a canon 500d which shoots in HD. Will this processor do the job?

Yeah, it's a good CPU for editing, but more cores help with editing. An 8 core would be best if you can find a good one.

Wouldn't be bad, but it wouldn't be that fast. If you want to do video editing look for an i7.

Mobile i5's are dual core. Try finding a sandy or ivy based i7 quad. It will be better for what you are wanting to do with it.

Thanks everyone. When you say not that fast, how slow are we talking? I'm on a bit of a tight budget so not sure if I can afford an i7, is the i5 still worth the money?

Hop on craigslist and see if you can maybe find a good deal on a used i7 based laptop. Just double check on Intel's site that it is a quad core model and not a dual core one. Some mobile i7's are nothing more than mobile i5's with more cache.
