is the 980 ti actually faster than the 1080?

Sure the 1080 in benchmarking stock vs 980 ti will beat it. but it performs just a bit better than the 980 ti, but if we compare the clock speeds. the gtx 980ti high overclock would be like 1400mhz. gtx 1080 can get to around 2.2GHZ. if we put the gtx 1080 at like 1400mhz like the 980ti would be. im pretty sure the 980 ti would be beating or at least barely the same performance. is nvidia scamming us all and we are just paying for new technology?

It's about a 24% performance difference, so a 980Ti would need to make that up just to pull even. Then of course the 1080 is probably the strongest overclocking card ever made, so I'm not seeing it.

But why speculate when Overclockers Club tests all their comparison cards at stock and at maximum overclock? Checking the review, no the GTX 980Ti is clearly "last gen", even when overclocked to 1455 MHz.

I don't know what you read but its wrong, 1 1080 is equal to 2 normal 980's, so I guess around a 1.7-1.8 times the performance of the 980ti, the gtx 1080 can easily go over 2 ghz and they didn't even benchmark the card at that speed. It will be much better then the 980ti

but the thing is. what if we put the 1080 the same clock speed as the 980ti because on a bunch of benchmarking videos ive seen, the 1080 beats the 980ti by about 15%
