Is the A8-5600k Any Good For Gaming?

Hi,

I am investing in a new pc and found a build using the A8-5600k and would like to know if i t will run skyim, Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2. I am not using crossfire and have 8gb of ram.

Mated with a reasonable discrete GPU it will.

You will be much better off running something like a FX 6300 with a discrete GPU. I have the A10-5800k, but it is a very weak CPU. It bottlenecks my 7850 in almost every game that relies on the CPU even a little bit, particularly BF3.

APU's are best used for SFF and budget design's that lack discrete graphics cards. When used as a desktop paired with a dGPU their value goes down quickly. A good low cost replacement is an fx6xxx series, cheap and gets the job done.
