I'm using a new 271 right now. If you have a 270 I would not go to the 271. Unless you really want that bezel or you no longer have the 270 for some reason. Which btw, something seems very odd to me....
The bezel is amazingly thin, but the front panel sticks out like 5mm in front AND protrudes past the edge slightly to the left and right(it also seems, "cheap" to me). So, unless you can take that panel off I don't see how you'd get it flush in a 3-display setup, especially if you wanted to angle them.
There are 2 gripes that I have on this one over the ASUS PQ279Q. The god awful OSD and overall stability and build quality versus the ASUS.
I went with the ACER because I read on a forum that the ACER has a "better panel retention method." And I actually like the look of the stand(many hate on it). The one I got has a deal pixel and IPS glow(see my thread for pics). And I am considering either exchanging for a new one until I hit the jackpot or returning and rolling the dice on the ASUS and doing the same thing.
As for the whole ultrawide thing... It's a matter of 21:9 versus refresh rate really. I personally decided against it after being in love with the idea of the x34.
Honestly, as "new" as curved ultrawides are, and considering both company's QC issues, if I wanted one I'd go with a 60hz Dell or LG and forgo the 100hz and gsync. If you want that smooth butter then just get a 144hz gsync. Also keep in mind some games don't work right(natively) and/or play well on 21:9.
