Hi, I am building an apu based computer that draws under 200w at full load. Even though it is tier 3 on the psu tier list, will it be ok for my purposes? Or should I get a different psu?

Thanks

Solution
Basic, but good, it's probably one of the best tier 3 units you can buy. Not for use in gaming but for a simple HTPC or secondary computer like in your case, it works perfectly.
Thanks for answering my question. But I would like to also know if there are any other good alternatives to the vp as it is only 30 bucks right now

Edit: I can buy a earthwatts for about 45. Is it worth it? This is for my mom, so I want it to run flawlessly for at least 3 years

Antec Earthwatts are very good, they are designed to stay on 24/7.

Another great option would be the Seasonic S12II:

A little more expensive, but the amount of good quality PSUs under $50 is slim.

What a load of bull.. why the hell it should not be used for ''gaming'' ?
Please enlight me -_-' You elitist....
My whole life i have been ''GAMING'' on the most cheapest PSU-s i can buy, LC POWER brand the most. Never has anything gone wrong except psu fan becomes loud as shit and starts failing, which is happening right now so i'm buying Antec VP this time because nowdays they really arent expensive .
So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me why I SHOULD NOT use it for gaming, but only for ''simple htpc''. Please tell me i really wanna know, and why is your answer selected as best.
And just for your info in my time as a gamer i had 2 graphic cards xfx 6870 and r7 370, that doesnt count as ''light htpc'', and im gaming every day for hours and hours in period of 5 years with crappy psu, i never turn off my pc, never, and never has anything bad happened. And now you are saying that good tier 3 psu from reputable brand should not be used for '''''gaming'''''', while my crappy lc power noname chinese crap has never gave me any issues, and also my parents friends and sisters home pc-s i built also have lc-power, never a problem.

I rest my case

Your only point would be if by gaming you mean 3xSLI Titan X, but dont even try to pull that on to me, that is not considered ''gaming'', so dont even try!
