[SOLVED] Is the asrock b450 pro4 micro atx compatibly with the ryzen 5 1600 af

Solution
Yes, it's compatible with ALL B450 motherboards. In fact, it's compatible with ALL Ryzen chipsets, period, although some of the very first chipset boards like the A320 and B350 models MIGHT need BIOS updates before they will support it since it is technically a newer architecture than the original Ryzen 1600. But any of the B450 boards should support it just fine.

Both the Summit ridge and Pinnacle ridge versions of the Ryzen 5 1600 are listed on the B450 Pro4-F CPU support page. I'd suggest you go look at THAT instead of looking at posts from people on Amazon who are stretching the limits of their intelligence by simply tying their shoes, and breathing.

The Pro4-F is a more budget version of the Pro4. Between the two, I'd go for the Pro4. In reality, I'd much prefer to wait until the Tomahawk or Tomahawk Max, or Gaming Plus/Max, or Pro Carbon were back in stock and at somewhat regular prices because those boards would make much better platforms to upgrade later on to Ryzen 3000 or 4000 model CPUs, but if you need to buy now then the Pro4 is probably a marginally better board. They have the same VRMS, the Pro4 and Pro4-F, so in that regard they are practically the same.

Differences are mostly in other features like USB generation and such.

Lots of them. The problem is, right now, Covid 19.

The reason that is a problem is because nearly all computer hardware is manufactured in China. Since January, China has not been manufacturing much at all, and has not been shipping ANYTHING out to other countries until just recently, and even that is in much smaller quantities than before the Coronavirus lockdowns because they weren't manufacturing so there isn't anything to ship out.

That has resulted in shortages of all the popular motherboard, power supply, fan and CPU cooler models. It is less of a problem in some areas than others, but it's a problem to some degree anywhere you go in the world right now and has been for about two months. Things should return to, well, maybe not "return to normal" but more like "get better" before too long, so it might be worth your while to wait. You can probably get a much better motherboard and power supply for the same price if you are willing to wait another week or two. If not, then get the Pro4. The Pro4 series for all Intel and AMD generations has been, for a long time, a very solid budget option.

The CX550 is probably a good budget option for that build. If you'd like something a little more respectable then this should be helpful when it comes time to make a selection. Assuming of course that prices and availability DO improve sometime in the near future.

As far as motherboards go, the MSI boards I mentioned are easily the go to choices for the B450 family if you are looking for the best combination of price and performance. The B450 Tomahawk (And Tomahawk max), Gaming Plus (And Max) and Gaming pro carbon (Max model coming soon) are all very good choices with really good VRM configurations and good features. The first two are the better choices if you don't need an NVME M.2 drive or if you only need one. If you desire having multiple M.2 slots for NVME or SATA M.2 drives, then the Gaming Pro Carbon and Pro Carbon Max are better choices.

The Pro4 is a fine choice though if you don't want to, or can't afford, these other models because of the way prices are right now.

Right now, it's not terrible. Normally, it would be about twenty bucks more than that unit normally sells for. Since you are not on the mainland, prices might normally be a bit more for you anyhow, IDK really. We don't seem to get that many members from your state. I guess there are better things to do there than spend a lot of time on computers, although I equally suppose that in the urban areas it's not much different than any other big city. It's not all beaches and surfing.

On a side note, IF you can find a gray label with black lettering CX unit, not CXm which is an older not quite as good product, it would be a better choice for around the same amount as the CXm models. If not, then that is probably one of the better or only truly "budget" models you will be likely to find currently. In a few weeks, who knows, when things start returning to normal IF they do. That's a big question mark as well.
