hi
i have a dead motherboard that i'm about to replace
but before i shipped the motherboard i saw a video at youtube
here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zOYdNEHDQo

he said that the manufacture will ask for that black cover that covers the cpu socket
if it's not on the cpu socket i will lose my warranty
is that true?
because i threw mine the first time i saw it
my motherboard is msi z87 mpower

it depends. if the motherboard shipped in a prebuilt system they will expect you to send the whole pc back. if you bought a self build with specific parts like a motherboard, ram and so on then yes they do prefer you to ship the motherboard back with the cpu cover in place.
