Is the black part on the motherboard protecting the CPU supposed to come off

Like bought all the components..and trying to install the CPU..i opened it...the thing fell right in..now trying to close it..and I feel like I will break something if i apply force..it doesnt want to close..there is a black top where its says ''Remove''but it wont come off..i will post a picture in a moment..

ok so it does have to be removed...ty..but mine wont give...updat..got it halfway off..why is it secured so tight on there ....
