This is the first computer i built and i can still return 1060 6gb i want to upgrade to a 1070 because on amazon its only like 90 dollars more for me to upgrade. Currently i have
i5-8500
8gb 2666mhz ballistix ram
1060 6gb
500gb 7200rpm harddrive
250gb ssd kingston sata
evga 650w Gold (GQ) semi modular
gigabyte z370p d3 ultra durable gaming motherboard.
apex-21n case

please tell what i need to do to make a good computer. everytime i use firestrike program in steam i only score 12000 in firestrike which other computers score way higher.

do i need to upgrade to 1070 while i can still return then 1060/ is it worth it for me to do that or did i build a decent computer that will be able to play all games in max settings for at least another 3 years? thanks for any replies i am new to forum

Good system overall, here are a few sugestions:

- if you feel like 1060 is not good enough for you, then by all means do get 1070 if your budget allows it.
- only 8 GB of memory is not enough anymore for some latest titles. Get 16GB.
- you have a locked i5 on z370 motherboard which supports overclocking. Nothing wrong with that, but you could either shave off a few bucks by going for mobo with lower chipset, or get a OC-able CPU.

Nope, it is horrid. You did NOT spend $5000 on it. And even then that is just a scrub machine. You need to spend $50K on your rig. LOL.

Seriously, why do you want people on the forums to give you affirmation? If they thing works and you like it, then it is good.

Firestrike, msi kombuster, and all other online comparison sites should be taken with a grain of salt. Your pc isn't the same. Sure, you might score lower than others with the same cpu and gpu, but they could have a software OC on the cpu, have oc'd their gpu to its max, oc'd their ram, have spent hours tweaking the nvidia settings, aren't running AV in the background, all in the name of improving a synthetic benchmark a few points.

On msi kombuster, my oc'd asus gtx660ti got higher scores by a long shot in every catagory except 1 vrs a gigabyte gtx960 G1 gaming. So? At the time I was happy with the cheaper card and saw no need to upgrade to something more, now it's in my wife's pc, she rarely games, and if she does it's Sims4 which is well within the capabilities of the 660ti to get ultra and 60fps.

So don't base your decisions on other people's setups, base your decision on whether it's worth it to you to upgrade, those other testers are not playing games on your pc. If you are happy with its in game performance, that's all that matters. If it's not good enough for you, if you aren't getting the fps to make game play good for you, then upgrade, otherwise what you have is fine, better than what I have and I have 2 pc's.
