Hi,
I really just want to know how reliable the HX520W is. I hear that it is pretty good, lasting up to 10 years, but I really just need to hear it somewhere credible.

Solution
It's decent by modern standards. It's very, very old, though. I wouldn't go out and buy one for a modern build, as it's been out of production for quite some time.

The Seasonic S12II series is based on an updated version of the same platform. It's good, but still old.

What is quality to you? If it is decent by modern standards, why shouldn't I put it in a modern build?? Would it look bad in a modern build?

I would say that it would depend on what it has been used on in the past and what you want it to do in the future, I run a HX620w that I bought in 2006 BTW.

If you got one new, it would work wonderfully. My reservations stem from the fact that you can't get it new anymore. PSUs fail over time, and I wouldn't plan a build around a PSU that's already halfway (or more) through it's useful life.

Ah, I get it now, you are right. I did get this used, and who knows how long it will last me since its past owner. I think it still fits my low power consumption needs though. I run a system that sucks up about 300W, which should not put too much pressure on this PSU. I hope that makes it last longer.
