hi everyone, is the EVGA GTX 1060 3GB Single Fan still good choice at 1080p with ultra and high settings to use in today's modern games?

because i'm about to buy a EVGA GTX 1060 3GB Single Fan but I noticed it had a lot of bad ratings and bad performance.

so, is a good card or bad card?

thanks for your time and attention to my question\any help and advice is appreciated.

The single-fan EVGA that is not the SC version has a small radial heatsink that will run warmer than most GPUs.

Ultra settings is a little above the 3GB limitation, but not on all games. High settings is more reasonable for the newest AAA games.

You will continue to have to lower settings as newer games come out as it is already quite limited by 3GB of memory.

Overall it is a good GPU and I would much prefer it rather than a 1050 Ti. But, there are a few games that won't run well on ultra settings.

What is the normal temperature of The EVGA GTX 1060 3GB (Single Fan) not the SC version?

And

What is the max safe operating temperature of The EVGA GTX 1060 3GB (Single Fan) not the SC version?

Thanks

Max user temp on any gpu shouldn't exceed @80°C. Even pushed to 99% my gtx970 doesn't go over 74°C, I have to bench torture it at 100%load on certain oddball tests to get to 80°C. Fuzzy donut is 74°C.
A lot is determined by ambient temps and airflow as well as usage. At nominal gaming you'll not push 1080p higher than @60-65% so expect 55-65°C.

You'll only see 80°C in a lousy airflow, tightly packed case.

Oh, and my 970 is sitting at a 124%OC.

There is a major difference in the cooling of a GTX 970 and the single-fan EVGA GTX 1060.

80C is not a hard limit, but a good reference point to know that things are getting hot. If you were to contact EVGA about the temperature of their GPU they would likely tell you it was normal and safe.

Just to make a note, the SC version of the EVGA GTX 1060 has a much better cooler even though it's single fan. It has a large copper+aluminum heatsink compared to the small radial heatsink of the non-SC model.
