EVGA has had some technical problems with their graphics card brand in the past.

Yes, and issue with the cards in the past was the VRMs getting too hot because of lack of thermal pads and a faulty BIOS which didnt run the fans fast enough at temps. EVGA fixed the issue in cards since then and patched the BIOS along with sending thermal pads to people who had the faulty ones. EVGA has a solid track record for graphics cards and has one of the best warranty and customer service, at least in North America in the market.
