I know that the Fury/X shines in 4K gaming. But does it do well in 1080p gaming as well? I've seen some benchmark, some. I currently have a r9 290x and I want to upgrade just because the temps are way to hot to handle honestly. 88-91c is to much for me at stock settings and fan speed at 80% with a large open case with nice airflow. Or should I just get the 980 ti?

I prefer constant 60fps or more in 1080p. For new games like Witcher 3 but also old games like a modded Skyrim. Ontop of games like Guild Wars 2 and Warframe. my R9 290x does well in this category for most of the games but it isn't constant. Warframe is 140fps+, gw2 is 40-120fps, The Witcher 3 is usually under 60 and Skyrim is 30-60fps.

It will destroy 1080P gaming. There are much cheaper options for 1080P gaming. The Fury/Fury X is over kill for 1080P

The games you listed are very VRAM dependent at max settings. You can look at the 390X for the extra VRAM for that super high end textures. However, I would be surprised if 1080P textures used more than the 4GB of the 290X

Your current card is way more than enough for 1080P, I would look at the fact that something is deffinately wrong. The card is still well under warranty, please contact the manufacturer. Your gpu is clearly throttling. Once you get a card that functions properly you will be quite happy you didn't spend money wastefully. If your card has the stock cooler on it simply buy an aftermarket cooler for 60 bucks. It's well worth it. The 290x is a friggin awesome card for 1080P.

My modded skyrim can go up to 3gb range for vram; because I use 2k textures. gw2 is a mix of CPU and GPU based so I guess performance is from both. I have a i7 4790k stock speed.

Not sure if I am throttling, perhaps we can take a look into that? I've had this card for a year or two maybe already.
Outside the box I can remember not getting "destroys 1080p games" experience with the games that were out at that time, that I listed.

If I got an after market cooler, I assume water cooling, can someone link me. I've only found an article about one and it was $100 but I couldn't find the purchase link.

I'll be getting $100-200 from a friend for building his computer, and if my card isn't broken I'll be selling it for $200-300, the rest I can afford for a Fury possible Fury X. and if needed a 980ti.

At the end of the day I just want the best fluid 60fps 1080p experience in the most recent and older games. And something that will last me three years or more if possible.
