Is the GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P AMD 970 Socket AM3 motherboard compatible with gtx 1060?

First off, i would like to say i am new to this whole computer thing. I have a GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P AMD 970 Socket AM3+ ATX Mainboard on my pc currently.
I am looking to purchase a gtx 1060 but i am not sure if they are compatible with each other. If not, i might purchase a new motherboard to go along with my card!

the motherboard is compatible, but if you don't have a cpu this might be a good time to get an i5 instead of whatever chip you plan on pairing with the 1060.

Thanks for the reply, how did you find out it is compatible? I am currently using a amd 8320 cpu!

Well... any board with a pcie slot and a modern chipset can support it. When installing a new graphics card you have to worry about the space and power, not the compatibility with your motherboards. Although, i would update your bios before installing it to the newest version.

I checked the nividia site, the 1060 apparently uses less wattage then the 660
How do i update the bios?

Go here and download it, doesn't actually look like it will be too big of an issue though tbh as they haven't released a new one. You should be fine
