Is the GTX 780/780 Ti worth it in 2016

I found an incredibly good deal on a GTX 780 Ti but I'm wondering is it worth buying one in 2016 as I've heard about Nvidia nerfing drivers so they don't run as well as they could, and temperature is worrying me as I am going to be running ITX. Would an i5 6400 limit it and also would the EVGA G2 550W PSU be good enough to run it?

I have a 780 and game at 1080p, it was a great card but I wouldn't buy it today. I have found 3 games already that I have to drop the settings slightly so not to use all 3gb VRAM as it causes instant stuttering. It's also not supposed to be very good with DX12 which will be more popular in the next couple of years. There are also a lot of cards that perform as well or better and use less power and produce less heat, that thing is a mini heater.

That depends entirely on how much you would pay. A 780 ti is still a very powerful card, I doubt nvidia is intentionally nerfing drivers if concrete evidence of that ever came out it would be PR disaster for them. They just aren't trying to improve the drivers for kepler cards anymore. If you plan to play at 1080p the 780 ti is still a great card that should come close to maxing any game at 1080p 60fps or better, but the 3gb of VRAM may limit you in newer games at 1440p.

My monitor is actually 1680x1050 (I didn't realise that was the resolution so I accidentally bought it) so Vram might not be an issue. But my question then would be is the EVGA G2 550W good enough because Nvidia say that 600W is the minimum and it must have 42 Amps on the 12 Volt rail. The EVGA PSU does have that (45 Amps) but not 660W. My system draw won't take more than 400W so is it worth it.

How much does it cost? Unless its very cheap, I would say no. For around the 250-300 dollar price range you could get a gtx 1060 which will outperform a 780 ti, with less heat and power.

Sorry for the late reply. The actual price for the card (I think its already sold) was £140. There were 780's and 780 Ti's around that price as well.
