I'm really stuck on between what card to get between GTX 980 and Ti. I'm looking more into 1080p and 1440p gaming. In Canada the price gap is pretty large it's about 250 more for the Ti I'm wondering if it is worth it for a 108pp or 1440p gaming PC and Monitor

For 1440 yes. For 1080 not even the 980 is worth it more like a 970. The 980 sucks in price/performance ratio. It has no real place at the moment. Too much for 1080p and too less for 1440p. It will take the 970s place in the future for 1080p but be even worse for 1440p.

For 1440p definitively get a 980ti it's totally worth it and a lot faster than a regular 980.

But for 1080p is still recommend getting a 970, just because the 980s price/performance ratio sucks.

Then I would suggest you answer your own question. Not being rude but simply is the extra $250 worth it to you since you want very high FPS? I'm sure you can read the charts testing each card and decide if the extra FPS is worth it to you. In my mind it is not worth it at all just from a value standpoint. NVIDIA's Pascal should be a beast next year if you are in no hurry.
