Yep, fairly solid. But I'd still recommend a new Intel i3-6100 instead of it for 110 dollars, if you need a new motherboard either way. If you already have a motherboard for the i5-2400, It's a different situation.

Agreed. Should still be more than sufficient for moderately demanding games. It is a full quad-core and should be plenty fast. Outfit it with a SSD and a good chunk of RAM (16GB or so) and you should be GTG...
Just a quick note, unless it's a package deal (CPU and MOBO), you could get an Ivy Bridge since both Sandy Bridge (iX-2XXX chips) and Ivy Bridge (iX-3XXX) are socket compatible.
Well - then snap one up if you get the chance. I have a Xeon X3470 (equivalent to i7-940) in a Asus P7F7-E and with the overclock, it's more than potent enough for gaming.
Oh - and having Quad SLI capabilities sure helps too... lol.
