Is the i5 3570k worth it?

Hello, I'm new to the forums and planning to buy a new processor, intels i5 3570k, along with a new motherboard, AsRock Extreme 4, intended for gaming (Battlefield 3, Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Planetside 2) and I was wondering if the difference in performance was worth 220 euros.

Here are my computer specs:

CPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.50GHz

RAM
8,00 GB Double-Channel DDR2 332MHz

Graphics Card
AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series (XFX Pine Group)

Also if you do think it's worth buying the i5, then I would very much appreciate if you could recommend some other mobos that you think are better and along the same price range, keeping in mind I'm not planning to do any crossfire or anything of sorts.

At the same speed a 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processor (like the Intel Core i5-3570K) would be around 30%+ faster and that is before any type of overclocking. So while gaming performance is large based off from the video card the performance of the CPU does play a part and an old CPU can even bottleneck the performance of a really good video card. So "Yes" it will be worth it over your older Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300.
