[SOLVED] Is the i5 8400 good for gaming/streaming games ?

Is it good enough to stream games like Fortnite without me having to lower my settings
I have a 1070ti
16gb ram 2400Mhz

Most people will recommend CPUs with at least 8 threads for streaming. Even 12+ if you can get them. However, that depends on the particular game you intend to stream. i5 8400 should be good enough for Fortnite streaming. If you encounter any kinds of frame drops, consider getting an i7. But try streaming with i5 first, cannot hurt to test it out and see.

I have a Ryzen 5 1600 and I dont encounter huge frame drops while streaming it has the exact same number of cores/threads as the i5 and they are a bit less powerful, so you should be good to go. With frame drops I mean that the game still stays over 60fps so it´s totally playable + stremeable.

I would strongly suggest you to get Ryzen 5 2600 or 2600x as ryzen CPU performs better than intel in multicore performance so you will get a better experience eof streaming on ryzen 5 comparing to I5 8400.
Also if you are going with ryzen 5 CPU (which I strongly recommend ) then buy a faster RAM aleast of 3000MHz

I’m going to go with the ryzen 2600x but with 16gb of 2400Mhz ram because I’m not planing on spending 200€ on ram 😉 thanks
