I'm about to change the cpu as I just installed a gtx 1080ti strix oc so I need something to avoid bootleneck.

I have a motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H z87, would the i7 4790k be compatible?

If not, anything on the same or above power level that would match my motherboard?

you may need to update the bios first though if you are not already upto date to support Devils canyon.
